A school in Street has applied for permission to replace a mobile toilet block with a permanent one.

A planning application for a lawful development certificate for the proposed removal of an existing mobile toilet block and the building of a permanent WC block at Brookside Academy in Brooks Road, Street, has been made on behalf of the school by Marie Cornish.

The application says: "Brookside Academy currently utilise a mobile, trailer-mounted WC facility, located to the northwest corner of the playground.

"The existing WC block offers 10 individual, low-quality toilet cubicles for use of staff and students using the playground facilities and as a secondary WC for the neighbouring Portacabin classroom block.

"The academy's intention of this project is to improve the WC block for the students using the playground areas and while being taught in the Portacabin block next door.

"The proposal seeks to remove the existing mobile toilet block and replace with a permanent, highly hygienic, well-designed permanent facility.

"The new facility contains individual boy/girl cubicles, each featuring an ambulant WC cubicle,

which the existing facility did not incorporate.

"You enter the WC through a mixed gender handwash area, providing a mix of single tap basins and hand dryers with a vision-panel window next to the main door, for staff passive supervision."

Other planning applications received in the Street area this week include:

Heavy duty vinyl with metal ring banners to be displayed from lampposts are wanted at 6 Leigh Road, Street, by Mrs Jenny Marshfield.

Conversion and alterations of the existing barn to a residential dwelling at Rubbery Farm, Rubbery Lane, Lydford-on-Fosse, have been applied for by Mr John Collett.

Applications in the Street area that have been decided this week include:

Erection of single storey extension to west elevation at 8 South Street, Walton, by Ms Su Chilcott has been approved.

Erection of a single storey side extension at Bartonstone House, 59-61 Barton Road, Butleigh, by Mr and Mrs Joubert has been approved.
