Street's Clarks Village outlet shopping centre is planning a "more premium look and feel" by revamping its signage.
A planning application has been submitted to Mendip District Council to give some signs a make-over, replace others and install a number of new ones.
The new-look signage scheme - including two at the entrances off High Street and Farm Road featuring a new branch emblem - is described in a document supporting the application as "part of the ongoing process of upgrading and refreshing the brand, and responding to technological advances, such as pay by phone parking".
Chris Davis, centre director at Clarks Village, told Street Nub News: "We aim to provide the best guest experience we can and our plans to install new totems and signs throughout the centre will provide a much improved guest journey and a more premium look and feel to the centre.
"The new signage is designed to support guests as soon as they pull into the car park, right through to navigating the centre while providing improved identity and direction to our retailers."
The application is seeking permission for:
- signage and a new defining branch emblem to be fixed to existing piers at the Farm Road and High Street entrances
- signage associated with the car parks - including totem signs displaying corporate identity and information signs giving directions - displaying both information relating to parking and payment methods and to brands and offers
- finger posts to assist wayfinding and navigation through the centre
- double-sided, internally-illuminated totem signs containing centre maps, current location, brand and other information
- wall-mounted panel signs and lettering to define entrances and provide miscellaneous information.
