Drivers in hospital with serious injuries following two-vehicle crash on A361 near Greinton

The drivers of the two vehicles involved in the crash that closed the A361 near Greinton for six hours yesterday (May 4) both remain in hospital with serious injuries.

The police are investigating the cause of the crash and are appealing for any witnesses who have not spoken to them yet, to get in touch.

Fire crews from Street, Glastonbury, Wells and Bridgwater attended the incident, and helped free the two casualties, with one taken to hospital by air ambulance and other by road ambulance.

A police spokesperson said: "We responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A361 near Greinton at about 6pm yesterday evening.

"A temporary road closure was put in place in both directions while emergency services attended the scene.

"The two drivers involved both remain in hospital with serious injuries, but which are not thought to be life threatening at this time. Enquires are ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn't already spoken to police should call 101 quoting reference 5221096626."
