Street High Street will be closed to vehicles from Monday (June 15) as details of the temporary pedestrianisation have been revealed.

As reported yesterday, the High Street will be pedestrianised to help shops reopen as some coronavirus lockdown measures are eased, and Street Parish Council has confirmed that the scheme will start on Monday.

Chairman of the parish council, Peter Goater, said: "Street High Street, from Vestry Road to Farm Road, will be closed to vehicles except for access from Monday next week.

"Road closed barriers will be in place. There will also be a keep left one-way system for pedestrians to enable Covid-19 social distancing.

"This will extend further along the High Street than the road closure and partway down Farm Road. Keep your distance and keep safe."
