Clarks Village in Street is ready to re-open for non-essential retail at 9am on Monday (April 12) with measures in place to help keep guests safe.

Chris Davis, centre director at Clarks Village, said: "The entire team here at Clarks Village is looking forward to welcoming our brand partners and guests back.

"Following two very successful re-openings last year, where our guest feedback was extremely positive about the safety measures we had put in place and how happy they were to be back, the same care and attention has been put in place for this re-opening.

"The health and safety of everyone who visits our centre is our number one priority, as it has been throughout this crisis and we continue to follow the Government's guidelines.

"Our teams are incredibly experienced in keeping the centre safe and clean. A huge thank you to our team and brand partners for all their hard work in preparing for this moment, they are now very well practiced in managing the re-opening of non-essential retail.

"Our outdoor spaces at Clarks Village enable us to reintroduce our 'keep left' message to our guests as they walk around the village, with a one-way system introduced in some areas.

"We'd like to remind everyone that it's a legal requirement for all guests to wear a face covering when inside our stores and cafés.

"Posters and queue markers have been put in place to help keep everyone safe and our guest services and safety team will be on site to support and answer any questions.

"We are pleased to be re-opening our play park from 10am to 4pm every day from April 12, and we would ask our guests to check the information on our website and on posters at the play park on how to use this space safely.

"We'll again be managing the capacity of the centre closely, and at busier times you may be asked to queue at our entrances.

"Please visit our website and social channels for the most up to date information before setting off.

"We're very much looking forward to opening our doors again and welcoming people back for a safe and enjoyable experience at Clarks Village."

Safety measures include:

  • Hand sanitiser points located throughout the centre
  • 'Keep left' guidance to help maintain social distancing, with limited capacity
  • A queuing system for entry to the centre if capacity is reached, to help maintain social distancing
  • All centre staff provided with face coverings
  • Extensive touch-point cleaning
  • Signs, public address announcements and floor stencils to remind guests to keep a safe distance apart.

According to research by the owners of Clarks Village, Landsec, 84 per cent of people say they are likely to visit their local high street or shopping centre the week following non-essential shops reopening, while 55 per cent are most excited about bundling socialising and leisure activities alongside an in-person shopping trip this April.

The poll also revealed that three-in-four (76 per cent) UK adults believe they will revert to the same level of in-person shopping that they engaged in before the pandemic, by the autumn.
