An application has been made to Historic England for the moved war memorial in Street's Merriman Park to be re-listed.

A planning application by Street Parish Council's assistant clerk and projects officer Mark Sandiford for the approval of details reserved by condition 7 (Applying for Listed Building Designation) on planning consent 2020/0834/FUL at the War Memorial, Merriman Road, Street, has been approved by Mendip District Council.

The parish council was given approval in July to dismantle the original memorial and reconstruct it in a new location in Merriman Park in Street with later additions of the concrete insert, raised concrete curb and metal railings to be demolished and replaced with a simple stone border.

This work has now been completed, and the recent approved planning application has been completed as one of the conditions of the initial approval.

The parish council has now applied to Historic England for the memorial to be listed again in its new location, having initially been made a listed monument in 2018.
